Midwest Mystery Conference is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to create a vibrant and welcoming Midwest community for readers and writers of crime fiction.
Midwest Mystery Conference is a one-day, one-room, see-everything, meet-everybody readers’ event featuring some of the Midwest’s top mystery/crime writers—and a few of their friends from further afield, too. Our event is perfect for crime readers, book clubs, and librarians hoping to find new books to read and for aspiring crime writers hoping to build a community and learn about publishing from those who know the ropes.
Previous speakers include Sara Paretsky, Scott Turow, Gillian Flynn, Jeffery Deaver, Sophie Hannah, Rachel Howzell Hall, William Kent Krueger, S.A. Cosby, Daniel Kraus, Mary Kubica, and Sherry Thomas, as well as agents, editors, and other publishing pros, booksellers, librarians, and experts in crime-adjacent topics! Every year is different; we make sure of it.
